LIFE JUST HIT ME!
Injury, sickness, even if you fail a drug test
RRB (Railroad Retirement Board)
NOW WHAT?
To receive RRB sickness benefits, you must complete and file the below linked Forms UB-11, Application for Sickness Benefits and Statement of Sickness, within 10 days from the first day you want to claim benefits. An application is considered filed on the day it is received by the RRB; if you file late you may lose benefits.
#1 File with RRB (Railroad Retirement Board) for your sickness benefits
We have paper forms in the Union locker, or you can print and download the forms online at:
Explanation of Sickness Benefits for Railroad Employees (03/12)
This includes the Application for Benefits Form and Direct Deposit Form.
Note: You may claim rest days if you were unable to work and did not receive pay from your employer(Paid Sick Days are considered to have received pay from employer)
#2 Call The Hartford
Phone: 1 (888) 301-5615
It’s easier to call and have them make a claim over the phone. Then, create your online profile after.
OR ONLINE:
•Click Menu → Employee Benefits
•Select Start or Track a Claim → Disability and Leave Benefits
•Click Get Started
For example, a Machinist may get $866 from the RRB every 14 days. The Hartford will then supplement it with $1,211 every 14 days. That’s a combined monthly income of $4,154 versus $1,732 from just the RRB alone.
After you do this, set up an online account with RRB if you haven’t already.
This will help you so that every 14 days, you can make your claims. It’s simple to do.
Do this at:
•Click Sign in with LOGIN.GOV
•Click Create an account
